If there’s one thing we need to do as writers in 2017, it is to improve our grammar this year. At The Sparkle Writers Hub, we want your writing game to get better and to start our #GrammarSeries this year, we are giving you three ways to improve your grammar in 2017.
Are you ready?
Read good books.
You are what you read. If you want to write and speak well this year, read good books and take note of the writing style in those books. Somehow the good things you read will rub off on you. You can also listen to people who speak well. Slowly, you will begin to see a difference in your grammar.
Practice what you have read.
This is super important. There’s no need reading all those good books if you won’t practice whatever you read. Find a reason to write and speak. The more you write, the better you will become. This will help keep what you have learnt in your memory. Practice, practice, practice. You can never practice enough.
Identify your mistakes
If you have specific issues with your grammar, like your tenses, then work on that first. Correct the visible problems before you move on to learning other things. Have someone who is more skilled check your work periodically and correct your mistakes. This way, you will not be learning grammar vaguely but treating your specific grammar needs.
