The Author’s Talk 


This is an annual event powered by @kateekanem @katetalesfoundation. 

The talk will be addressing the central theme of “Unpacking Your Diversity In Stories”, and tackling sub-themes like feminism, art as a mirror of society, gender bias and sexual orientation. Creatives like Chimdinma Adriel Onwukwe, Amarachi Atama Amu , Sophia Jerome amongst others will be present.

The Medina Special Anniversary Bookference


Medina Book club will hold its anniversary bookference Saturday, August 12th 2017. This event will feature a book chat and panel session, spoken word and a special meet and greet of book clubbers. 

Venue is P.A.G.E Book Connoisseurs, 23, Opebi Road Ijeka Lagos.

Words are Work Fiction Masterclass



Fiction writing is not so difficult but some writers are still having issues creating great fictional characters. To this effect, Words Are Work and The Future Africa have teemed up to bring you an amazing master class that teaches you how to do just that.

Attend this edition of the Lagos International Poetry Festival

Hello poetry lovers, the Lagos International Poetry Festival is one event you don’t want to miss.

The festival will hold from October 26th to October 30th, 2016, with the theme ‘Paging the Future.’

This year’s festival will not only examine the role of the artist in shaping the outcomes of the future, it will also explore emerging trends in the global socio-political, economic and cultural landscape.

36 poets, writers and thinkers from across the world will shake Lagos with the audacity of their songs.

Speakers and Writers Lunch

We love the fact that event for writers are going beyond workshops and seminars alone. It’s possible to learn how to hone your writing skills and have some fun while doing it. If that sounds like something you would love to do then you should attend The Speakers and Writers Lunch.

There will be 7 writers, 4 amazing speakers and loads of yummy food. Some of the things you will learn includes:

  1. How to be an effective writer and speaker.
  2. How to build an income chain from speaking and writing.
  3. How to leverage on social media kits.

Here’s your opportunity to hangout with some awesome writers


Hey Sparkle Writers! We’re so excited as we write this post. For some months now, we’ve been working on putting together our first event! It’s been a long journey and we’re so happy to announce that we’re finally ready to bring you The Sparkle Writers Hangout With Ignite Africa 🙂

Now this is not your usual writing event. We really mean it when we say we want to hangout with you. We also want you to hangout with us and the awesome guest writers who will be sharing some fantastic words of wisdom with you during the event. You’ll get to network with other writers, make new friends, have access to some unique opportunities to showcase your work as a writer, eat loads of food and most importantly, you will have fun!

We’re having this event in partnership with Ignite Africa Library and we will also be celebrating the 1st anniversary of The Sparkle Writers Hub on the day as well. Yay! Can you believe The Sparkle Writers Hub will be one in a few weeks? There’s a little information we need to let you know; even though the event is free, we will only be hanging out with 20 writers. So if you’re interested in being a part of the Writers Hangout, you need to register as soon as possible.

Registration closes on Thursday 30th June but we can bet that all the 20 slots will be filled up by then. So don’t procrastinate.

The hangout will hold on Saturday 16th July in Lagos. Save the date and watch out for more information about the time, venue and the fantastic writers you’ll be hanging out with.

Training for writers you will absolutely love


Since we are particular about helping you to become a better writer we have information about some upcoming writing training that will be of great benefit to you.

This May, Connect Nigeria will hold her 3rd Annual Writers’ Conference, a free one-day conference/seminar aimed at providing young writers with skills they need to excel as writers in Nigeria. Writers, authors, bloggers and script writers will find this training useful.

Speaking at this year’s conference would be Okechukwu Ofili, Eghosa Imasuen, Ike Nnaebue Adebayo, Adebola Rayo and Efe Paul Azino.

The event will take place on the 21st of May, 2016 at The Sleek Centre, 141 Ahmadu Bello Way Victoria Island opposite Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 9 am to 4 pm.
