Manage your writing and 9-5 with these tips

wordoftheday-1

We know not everyone writes full time. There are quite a number of people (well maybe much more than that) who are writers and also work 9-5 for many reasons.

Whether you are working a 9-5 with the plan of going into full time writing or not these tips will help you manage your job and writing career without losing it.

Have a plan and stick to it

Managing two careers is not easy and having a plan goes a long way in making the journey smoother. What do you want to achieve in your writing career? State it. How do you want to achieve this? Write it down too. Do the same for your 9-5 job; this way, even when things are getting too hectic, you have something to guide and keep you in check.

Please stick with whatever plan or schedule you create for yourself. That’s the only way things can work. Don’t expect that just having a plan will solve your problem. Make the plan work. So if in your schedule you have committed to writing once a day, do all you can to make that work.

Write your ideas whenever you get the chance to

Because you have a lot on your plate, it is important that you at least jot your ideas when they come so you don’t forget. You may be at a client meeting when a good topic for your next blog post comes. jot it down. That way you will save yourself a lot of stress when it’s time to write the post.

Rest when you should

Nobody can function effectively without taking a break. If you’ve never take a leave from work, apply for one. Your body and mind will thank you for it. Besides a lot can happen during your rest; plenty ideas and enough time to write. Just know when to rest from writing too.
