#WordOfTheDay – You wouldn’t believe what this word means

Hello Sparkle Writers. It’s time for another #WordOfTheDay post. You just will not believe what today’s word means, although we’d love it if you can guess.

Today’s word is Tyro. Ever heard of it before? Or can you guess what it means? Well let’s just tell you what it means.

A tyro is a person who is just starting out in a field of activity

Here are a few words that can be used in the place of tyro;

Abecedarian, apprentice, babe, colt, cub, fledgling, freshman, greenhorn, neophyte, newbie, newcomer, novice, novitiate, punk, recruit, rook, rookie, tenderfoot.

Look at these examples;

My son is a good musician, but at 14, he’s still a tyro and has a lot to learn

He didn’t get the job because he’s a tyro.

Don’t forget to use this word the next time you get the opportunity.
