Writing is a beautiful thing. Being able to pour out your words on paper and impact thousands of lives across the world is such a joy. Oh, what a rewarding feeling that is.

Even though writing can bring you a lot of fulfillment, it can also bring you a lot of pain if you do not practice what Harper Lee suggests in today’s quote;

“I would advice anyone who aspires to a writing career that before developing his talent, he would be wise to develop a thick hide.”

Not everyone will love what you write, as powerful as your words may be. You must be ready for that and DO NOT take it personal. It comes with the craft.

Learn to develop a thick hide. Like we always advise, when you receive criticism take out the wheat, learn from it and throw away the chaff. A negative feedback is not necessarily a reflection on your ability as a writer. It is simply someone else’s opinion.

Never forget that Sparkle Writers!
