There are some writers who find it hard to talk about their work and there are also writers whose family members have no idea that they write. How weird is that?

What’s the use of writing if nobody can read it because it is tucked under your bed, hidden somewhere inside your drawer or lost in your computer?

Whether it’s due to fear of what people will say or how well your work will be accepted it’s time to put those unpardonable excuses behind you and start talking about your work because it matters.

Here are some tips that will help you promote your writing like a pro

Accept that self promotion is not a sin

Don’t feel guilty whenever you promote your work. If you don’t promote it, who will? When you write do not hide it. If you think your work is not good enough get help. There are writing classes that can help you polish your writing. Your work cannot be of value if you insist on keeping it hidden.

Give them a good reason to read your work

Why is your article important? Why should someone spend 10 minutes of their life reading something you wrote? Tell your potential readers what they stand to gain by reading your work, joining your class or visiting your blog.

Let’s use the writing training we offer as an example. The training has helped writers become consistent with their writing, engage their readers better and even start their own blogs.

Write good stuff

If your work is bad, no matter how much you promote it, you may not get the kind of acceptance you are looking for. Put in your best, get expert advice if need be. Don’t write like you care less because people will notice. Good stuff has a way of promoting itself and gives you less work to do.

Take advantage of the internet

You don’t need to have so much money to promote your work. If you have access to the internet then you have no excuse. Create an online platform and build your audience steadily. Let people know you and where to find you or at least your work.

Have you promoted your work before, what methods did you use? We’d love to hear from you.
